Female skittle players in Ross-on-Wye regularly enjoy a night out, a laugh, a chat and a game of skittles on a Thursday evening.
Because there is no skittles league during the summer, two Ladies skittles teams, the Larks and a team from The Drop Inn, have been playing each other in matches for charity. On Thursday, October 25th they presented a cheque for £125 to Graham Aplin for the British Legion Poppy Appeal. This money will be ring fenced and used for the benefit of projects in Ross-on-Wye.
At the last annual skittle meeting only three teams came forward for the Ladies Skittles League. The committee felt that a League could not run with only three teams but they are planning to meet again in the new year to see if there are any other teams which would like to join the league.
Sue Kirby, who has been playing skittles in Ross for over 40 years, told the Ross Gazette:?“We need help to keep our Ladies skittles going, we are worried that once our League finishes it will never restart.
“Ladies skittles is a great night out on a Thursday evening where girls can get together for a game of skittles, a laugh and a chat, in my team, The Larks, some of us have been playing together for well over 40 years.”See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
