After two previous impressive wins in consecutive weeks, Ross took on league leaders All Blues last Saturday and prevailed 20-15 in a tough physical encounter, confirming themselves as promotion candidates come the end of the season. The visitors had delivered some big wins in previous weeks and had designs on adding Ross to their list of scalps, however it was Ross that started strongest, showing great ball retention as the Ross forwards took it to their opponents. All Blues however were steadfast in defence, a Craig Powell penalty had given them a 3-0 lead but Ross could not find that elusive first try. As half time approached it was All Blues who snatched the lead, after a period of Ross pressure deep in the All Blues 22, Ross infringed the Blues 9, took a quick penalty and quick hands saw them put their winger wide out on the left, and he ran in the first try from 60 yards out, this was against the run of play but at the break All Blues held a slim 5-3 advantage.
