The season of Autumn brings many things and to runners means the disadvantage of less daylight but cooler weather and a rush to get in a few more events before the winter kicks in.

There were major events in both Cardiff and Chester. Cardiff saw 20,000 runners in their Half Marathon – the second largest in the UK - and Chester hosted 4,000 participants in the third running of their full 26.2 mile Marathon. The weather was kind for both, indeed maybe even a little warm for distance running.Gavin Jones had another good day after his second in the Big Dipper, recording a pb of 3 hours 27 minutes for the Chester Marathon while Gary Cuthbert turned in an excellent 3 hours 34 minutes in his very first marathon. Andrew Pearson had a bad day, but finished. In Cardiff, latest recruit to Ross Running Laura Lelievre achieved a great 1 hour 44 minutes in her first Half Marathon.

Ross Running meet at The Hope & Anchor car park on Tuesdays at 6pm and Sundays at 10am. Darker evenings mean that this time of the year torches and fluorescent clothing must be worn on Tuesdays and the runs will be on the road rather than off-road.
