Ross Tennis Centre will be welcoming the diggers from September, 10th, as courts 1 and 2 will be completely resurfaced. Working with Courtstall, Bristol the courts will also have new fencing.
Thanks to a loan from the Hereford and Worcester Lawn Tennis Association (HWLTA) and many very generous donations from tennis centre members, supporters and the local community, the new courts will be ready for matches by mid-October, weather permitting.
Laid in the purple and green colours of the world-famous Wimbledon tournament, the new courts are the first stage in a redevelopment of the tennis centre, which has been a thriving part of Ross for over 30 years. Thanks to the endeavours of head coach, Chris Friend, working in partnership with Ross Tennis Centre Community Interest Company (RTCCIC), the HWLTA saw a clear vision for the modernisation of the facilities, supported by on-going community participation and involvement, and was delighted to provide support in the form of the loan.
David Snow, one of the board of directors of the RTCCIC told the Ross Gazette:?“Members of the public and local tennis players will see a huge improvement in facilities at the tennis centre over the next few months. We are also aim to refurbish the tennis pavilion before Christmas, turning it into a comfortable and welcoming centre for players and supporters. We are so grateful for the community’s support, without which organisations such as the HWLTA and our other financial benefactors would not be on our side.”
