Ross O2 Touch Centre were strongly represented at the Juniors and Masters National Touch Championships held at Droitwich recently.
The England Touch Association split England into six regions for the National Championships, with Ross-on-Wye forming part of the West Wildcats region.
The National Championships, which were used for player selection towards National Squads for next year’s European Championships, draw players from as far afield as Newcastle, Cornwall, London and Guernsey.
Josh Simms, Louis Trotman and Tom Wilson were selected in the Boys Under 18 squad, while Hennessey Vine was selected in the Girls U18s. Everyone played well with both teams earning deserved third place finishes in a very competitive day. And with all Ross players still 15, they will have a couple of years to turn the tables in this age group.
Melanie Germany was selected in the Women’s 35s Team. Over a very long day the ladies eventually lost the final to the South East Renegades in a drop-off after a 2-2 draw at full time.
Mark Jensen represented Ross in the Men’s 45s Team and they eventually ran out as National Champs with a 3-2 win against Midland Tigers in a drop-off after finishing 1-1 at full-time.
