ROSS Rowing Club's Fliss Cox won gold, silver and bronze racing for Reading University at the British Universities and Colleges' Championship regatta.

Former Newent Community School student also Ella Fullman also took a bronze as well as appearing in two other Championship finals.

And the Ross club’s world gold medal cox Morgan Baynham-Williams also had a great regatta start to her coaching career at Oxford Brookes, as the men won gold and silver in Championship 8s.

The four-day event at Nottingham's National Water Sports Centre is one of the biggest in the UK.

Reading, coached by Olympic medallist Chris Bartley, are regarded as one of the top sculling centres, and first up Fliss and her B quadruple scull chased home their A boat in the Championship women's final, finishing just 2L back fell Ross rower Ella’s Bath boat taking bronze from Durham by 1/2L.

Next day Fliss took bronze in the women's Intermediate single in a Reading 1-2-3, pipping the Leeds sculler in the 2k race by just 0.39 seconds.

And on the final day in the WIM doubles final, she and Issy Hull overhauled the Leeds leaders after half-way to power away to a 2L win, helping Reading secure the Victor Ludorum.

Ella also placed fourth in WCh doubles and sixth in the singles.

Ross club mate Charlie Pope narrowly missed out on bronze in the Championship lightweight fours with Bath, just missing out to Cambridge, Durham and Nottingham, and also finished sixth in lightweight pairs.

Lucy Billington was also coxing Cardiff University's women's IM four which came fifth in the F final, while Jessie Punn helped the event as a volunteer.
