NINE try finishes led to a 51-0 scoreline for Ross U14s when they took on Ledbury U14s last weekend. Under bright spring sunshine, Ross-on-Wye shone against their local rivals, Ledbury. The dry and warm conditions suited the all-round rugby style adopted by the visitors.

Following a run of recent defeats in The Gloucestershire County Cup, the Ross players were able to show that they had learnt and have progressed well this season as a team.

With formidable rucking, tackling and scrummaging, supported by pacey running rugby, Ross were able to completely dominate for large parts of the game.

When Ledbury were on the ascendancy the stout Ross defence was able to repel their attempts, often forcing them to back away from the Ross try line.

It was team work which was the biggest feature of the blue and white defence, however Ben Pilot made a try-saving tackle which complimented the great defensive tackling work of the full back Ollie Cross.

The 51 point difference was made up of 9 try finishes from the following players: Callum Coe – Centre (3), Henry Watkins – Flanker (3), Cameron Ogilvie – Centre (2), Josh Simms - Prop (1). Three of these were converted successfully by Ben Pilot (2) and Ollie Cross (1).
