Ross stuttered to a convincing win in the end, booking themselves into the final of the North Mids cup on May 13th.

After securing promotion in Bristol last weekend, Ross saw off a determined Redditch side running in four converted tries and seeing themselves into the final with a 37-7 victory.

It was the visitors who started the brightest, bringing their big runners into the game early on, however the Ross defence held firm, Redditch could not find a way over the whitewash and as the half progressed, Ross took control, not only at the setpiece but had more tempo and direction with ball in hand, initially that just brought two penalties for Matt King to convert but as the game entered the second quarter, Ross ran in three quick tries from Dan Field, PJ Muldowney and Josh Element.

Kicker Matt King could not miss and by the break Ross had opened up a 27-0 lead.

An early second half penalty from Matt King saw Ross take a 30-0 lead and the tie was effectively over.

Redditch did hit back with a score of their own, but winger Marcus Barnard added a score which again was converted by Matt King and Ross were able to see out the game comfortably 37-7.

On Saturday, weather permitting, both Ross 1st and 2nds are at home against Minchinhampton 1st and 2nds so for a feast of rugby pop down to Greytree to support your town team, 2.30pm kick off.
