Jasmine Gibbons, who is a student from John Kyrle High School, has recently had the honour of being selected to join the England Women’s U18 rugby training camp in the New Year.
Jasmine, who is 17-years-old, currently plays club rugby for Worcester Valkyries in the Tyrrells Premier 15s, which is the top tier of the women’s English league. In addition to this, she has already had the honour of being made captain this season, despite being the youngest player in the squad.
The student, who lives in Llangrove, joined Worcester Rugby Club when she was 15-years-old and has risen through their U15 and U18 squads, whilst being selected for the North Midlands Under 18s squad last season.
Jasmine’s international call up follows in the footsteps of her PE teacher at John Kyrle, Claire Godwin, who herself had international rugby honours. Although, this was in the red of Wales, she won 25 caps at student and full international level.
This international selection is an amazing recognition of Jasmine’s ability and she is very excited to begin her international journey. All the staff and students at John Kyrle High School wish Jasmine the best of luck in her training camp and hope she will perform well enough to justify further England selection.
