On Saturday, April 28th, the U13 rugby team travelled to Worcester RFC to play their final games of the season.

The team were taking part in a girls’ only festival and their first game was against the Warwickshire Barbarians. I’Laura Jenkins got the ball rolling with an early try for John Kyrle, however the Barbarians came back with two tries of their own before Bethan Davies Jones and Zoe Whitehouse levelled the scores at 15-15. Despite some bone crunching tackles from Ronie Thomas, a final surge by the opposition saw John Kyrle lose by a solitary try, 20 points to 15.

Their second game against Newbury RFC started with another try by the strong-running Jenkins but Newbury spotted gaps in the John Kyrle defence and replied immediately with a try of their own. Whitehouse sprinted around the defence for John Kyrle’s second try before Nonny Bruce crashed through the Newbury line to increase their lead to 15-5. Ronie Thomas then sealed the victory with two fine individual tries to take the victory 25-5.

Despite only playing two games, the JKHS team ended on a high and following the tournament the girls then stayed and watched Worcester Warriors score some amazing tries of their own and comprehensively beat Harlequins in their final home game of the season.
