JOHN Kyrle High School’s Under 13 rugby team had a fantastic but chilly day at the festival in Cheltenham recently, winning four out of six of their games and narrowly losing the other two by a single try.

Beatrise Zuka (Year 8) pictured right, won a trophy as one of the players of the tournament and was presented it by Liza Burgess who was capped 87 times for Wales Women.

Liza was recently inducted to the World Rugby’s Hall of Fame along with Ronan O’Gara

Last year she also coached the Women’s Barbarians team and was the first woman to be elected onto the Welsh Rugby Union Board.

The girls coach told the Ross Gazette that the players loved meeting her and hearing about her experiences on the field. She even offered them a coaching session at Hartpury and to give the girls a guided tour.
