IT might have been a touch too hot, but the action was still fast and furious on the pitch as Ross-on-Wye RFC hosted the Midlands Ladies Touch League South West regional tournament.

Umbrellas, gazebos and ice lollies were definitely the order of the day when off the pitch in blazing sunshine on Sunday, July 10.

Ivy Jensen was awarded Ross player of the tournament after a really great afternoon, which saw the hosts play four games back to back and finish runner-up in the five-team competition.

Bredon were overall winners, followed by Ross, Ledbury, Pershore and Berry Hill.

A club spokesperson said: “Thank you to Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue, Ross-on-Wye, who provided all first aid support to the five teams and spectators during the day.

“In total £126 was raised for the charity during the afternoon.”

“Another thanks to Kairos Sports Photography who took some great shots on the day and they can be viewed on their Facebook page.

“Finally a great tournament cannot run without the support of volunteers so thank you to everyone who helped in the planning and running of the day, it is appreciated.”

The touch ladies team are not back in action until September at Ledbury, but training continues through the summer.

All ladies aged 13 and over are welcome whatever level of fitness and ability, with training on Mondays at Greytree pitches at 6.45pm.

Mixed touch is on Wednesday evenings, and over the summer there will be some combined training sessions.
