Ross continued their unbeaten league campaign on Saturday, at Bristol, with another convincing win against Ashley Down.
This was a fast and furious encounter, played on an artificial 3G pitch, with the sun on their backs. Ross knew that if they could win quick ball they could exploit the favourable conditions, and they did.
From the kick off they played with too much skill and tempo for a resolute and determined Ashley Down side who worked hard but could not stop a steady stream of tries, ably converted by Thai Hayward. From the off, Ross were in control and within 10 minutes they were 12-0 up after two well taken tries. The hosts worked the Ross defence hard but it was not until the 60th minute that they opened their account with a converted score. However, this was regularly punctuated by Ross tries, 11 in all, with eight converted at the final whistle.
Ross were comfortable 71-7 winners. Scorers were Casey Morgan, Gavin Oates, Craig smith, Marcus Barnard, PJ Muldowney, Ben Element and Dan Field.
On Saturday Ross complete their league campaign at home with a 3pm kick off. Ross 2nds also play, completing their championship season so it will be well worthwhile joining them at Greytree to watch two games of rugby for free. There will be refreshments available and the Club is looking forward to welcoming supporters after such a great season for both senior mens’ sides.
