As the Six Nations battled one another, so did Ross U12s, away to Romney RFC.

Right from the first whistle, Ross demonstrated their aptitude and caliber as the team quickly attuned to new skills against their Welsh rivals; having only recently learned to line out and contest to comply with Welsh RFC rules.

With two players down, Ross’ U12s threw themselves into their game, emitting every ounce of energy and passion. Skilful defence from Luke Hudson-Morris, Sam Morris, Jake Mitchell and Tom Clatworthy saw off early attempts at tries from Romney.

Despite Romney scoring, Ross did not drop their heads but continued to show their rivals their mettle. Well executed tackling from Oliver Moffatt, Curtis Williams, Cody Richardson-Wall, Ben Hannaford-Waddington and Alex Jackson meant that Romney’s relentless attempts at breaking Ross’ defences were regularly thwarted. Ross’ Oliver Pearson and Brynley Price also ensured that Romney were made to feel threatened as they artfully instigated a series of kick and chase episodes.
