The perfect weather and playing conditions were nicely timed to coincide with three significant events in Ross Golf Club's annual calendar featuring their Seniors members and visitors. The Keene Cup was supported by 98 seniors and the 44 points scored by Roy Taylor has booked his place at the Club's Annual Prize-giving evening in September. Bob Turley, with 43 points, was runner-up followed by Robin Henderson-Pugh's 41 points, Peter Hall and Graham Morris with 40 points each and Martin Lloyd, Brian Morgan and David Dale with 39 points.
David Dale was able to improve on his good form a few days later when his 43 points total enabled him to win the 3rd round of the Club's Layton Cup in which 95 members took part, with Barry Le Feuvre in 2nd place, followed by Michael Bradburn 41 points, David M Rees 40 points and Martin Johnson and Graham Baum with 38 points each.
