Andy Stokes, with Adrian McNally on the notes, took Category Two victory, a class win and 16th overall at last weekend’s Harry Flatters Historic Rally in their Escort RS1600.
Brecon Motor Club attracted 105 entries for their National A & B rallies for 75 miles of tarmac on the Epynt military roads.
The Historic event was a qualifying round of both Mintex British Historic and Fuchs MSA Asphalt championships.
Stokes, who was engaged in an event long battle with Phil Jobson in a similar car, found the opening test slippery in places after heavy overnight rain, but soon settled into the event for a trouble free run to their first Category Two win, the result also puts them in a strong position for the Asphalt title which now heads for the Isle of Man for the Manx.
One place in front of them was Jason Gardner/Adie Williams in the Brecon View Plumbing Escort RS1800, despite a small off, they had a trouble free day to take 15th and 9th in class.
It was a troubled but in the end yet another class win for Ben Friend and Cliffy Simmons in the Allglass Escort RS, a bad misfire on the opening three tests cost so much time, but after the class leader’s retirement, they inherited a class victory and 18th overall.
Damian Cole and his Ross-on-Wye co-driver Paul Morris totally dominated the Harry Flatters National B rally in the Get Connected/ Weaver Motorsport Fiesta WRC.
For Cole this was also a landmark victory his 50th at the venue, a tremendous achievement.
The duo set fastest times on all five stages to take victory from Tomos Davies in his Fiesta R5 by well over a minute.
Matt Davis/Russell Joseph took 37th/4th in class in the Roberts Plant Peugeot 106
