Ross entertained Pencombe CC in their annual fixture at The Park on Sunday, September 14th. Sunday skipper Andrew Stacey won the toss and elected to bowl first. Jack Evans and Ben Lander opened the innings and got off to a solid start, but Lander soon fell to the jazzy swing bowling of James Brown for 10. This brought Seb Warwick to the crease, both he and Evans soon went into overdrive. The Pencombe attack disappeared to all parts of the ground and the pair rocketed to their hundred partnership in the 12th over. Both passed 50 as the onslaught continued and at drinks Ross were 191-1 from 20 overs. Warwick fell to the second ball after the drinks break for 87, but Evans continued to marmalise the Pencombe bowlers. Full report in this week's Gazette.
