Garnons visited Goodrich in a double header to decide who would go top of the Marches league and through to the semi final of the Marches Cup.

The setting was perfect at Hilltop Paradise on a windless, sun-kissed afternoon but the wicket was still a little damp from the previous 40 days of rain which has blighted this cricket season.

Garnons put Goodrich into bat, which paid dividends as the first Goodrich opener was dismissed with only two runs on the board. The second opener, Roger Lord, stuck to the task in hand and for the next 33 overs scoring a stoical 20. Meanwhile Andrew Brown carved and thundered his way to a Captain's 75.

This partnership ended with the score on 100 with 15 overs to play, but it did give the rest of the batting line up a chance to build a total worth chasing.

Like the previous month Goodrich made heavy weather of the task losing wickets in relatively quick succession mainly to Stu Griffths' left arm spin. A quick bright spell from Davies rushed the score on by 15 but it was the cool head of Andrew Evans who batted through unbeaten, hitting some fine straight sixes which helped Goodrich post a respectable score of 167.

All the chocolate brownies were devoured at tea.

Garnons had a good dry road to bat on now but Andrews missed a Bradford ball which thudded into his pads plumb LBW. Brown snaffled the other opener, Cottrell, with a fine slip catch soon after from the bowling of Davies. Alan Jones was out of the blocks scoring quickly but Bradford had him caught for 14 before he could build an innings. Debenham hung in against Bradford's relentless line and length(12-5-15-2) until Rich Bastable (11-3-32-4) bagged him LBW. The Garnons middle order folded and apart from a gallant but futile quick fire 21 from Andy Brace Garnons were decapitated for 96.

Goodrich now top the league just above Garnons.
