Eight members of the 32 strong Wheely Fitness Squad who competed in the Superhero’s Triathlon at Dorney Lake, are from Ross-on-Wye. Everyone who took part, whether as competitors, enablers or buddies, or to cheer the teams from start to finish, had a fantastic experience and created long lasting, happy memories.

Kris Saunders-Stowe from Team Wheely told the Ross Gazette that he was incredibly proud of his team. He said, “Not only seeing the amazing people that we work with taking part and being a part of something so special, but also seeing everyone from around the country sharing in one common goal, to defy labels and stereotypes, to defy doubts and expectations and to show how amazing they all are.”

Within the teams there were some who had competed in events before, but for many this was not only their first experience of competing but also of demonstrating their abilities.

Although everyone achieved different results, all those who took part really pushed themselves to achieve the best they could.

Kris told the Ross Gazette, “Some were faster than others, some went further than others but the only thing that was relevant is that all pushed themselves to be the best they could be, they committed, they challenged and most importantly they believed in themselves.”

Kris is very grateful to Stewart Ross of the Ross Rotary Club for their funding support and the provision of a bus and driver to enable First Key clients to attend the event.
