A MARTIAL arts club have congratulated Katie Eacock on passing her 2nd degree black belt (2nd dan) in taekwondo.
It has been six years since the British Taekwondo Ross-on-Wye member passed her initial black belt at the age of eight, and the teenager has trained consistently since then, even in lockdown.
Her instructor and father, Master Paul Eacock (7th Dan), said: “As well as being a proud instructor, I’m also a very proud dad.
“She had to perform many technical tests to pass, which also included a power demonstration. She then engaged in sparring four other black belts, all of them adults, ranging from 1st dan to 3rd dan."
Beginners enrolment and classes are at The Larruperz Centre in Grammar School Close, Ross-on-Wye, on Sundays from 4.30pm-5.30pm.

British Taekwando say: “Taekwondo is a traditional martial art originating from Korea. Students practicing the martial art can expect to learn a full range of skills including kicking, punching, self-defence and poomsae (patterns).
”Taekwondo is excellent for building confidence, learning about respecting yourself and others, and teaches strong ethics and moral values for children and adults alike.”
