Ten volunteers, some of whom don’t even play tennis spent hours at the Tennis Centre on Sunday, September 30th and did some fantastic work!

The grass was edged, hedges trimmed, drains cleared, the roof was power-washed and the sign was removed to be lovingly restored by another non- playing volunteer. The entrance step was re-laid which will be a welcome improvement. Vanstone Building and Consultancy are doing the refurbishment on the interior of the pavilion, but funds will not stretch to the outside area, so Val Davies asked for help and was thrilled with the response from the members. “We are planning three days of work, and this is the first, members of the Tennis Centre and their relatives are great people,” she said. Tarmac on the top two courts should go down this week, which will improve the facility for the whole community.

Everyone is welcome to become a member, but the Centre also welcomes non-members. For further information email [email protected] this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
