It was the turn of Goodrich ’C’hasers to play host to Leominster ’B’ Ladies at Goodrich on Saturday, August 4th. It did not take long for the first pair, Katie Hunt and Kayla Coopey, to notch up a 6-2/6-1 score in their first rubber.

On the other court, however, second pair Ros Wadsworth and Karen Hawley were not so fortunate and went down 1-6/4-6. At the change over, Katie and Kayla dominated the play again with some fine forehands and winning volleys, taking the second rubber 6-3/6-3.

The second rubber for Ros and Karen was a very close contest; they won the first set 6-4 but dropped the second 5-7. The third set resulted in a tie-break which went Leominster’s way. However, having won an extra set, the Goodrich Ladies got the extra point and a winning draw, maintaining their 5th place in Division 6.

Leominster were very gracious in their defeat, saying that Goodrich had provided them with the best lunch of the Summer season.

On Sunday, August 12th, the ‘C’hasers are at home to Woolhope ‘C’ which will be a crunch match for both teams.
