Ross Rowing Club has notched up another crop of wins at winter events over the past two weeks. On September 28th, rowers took part in the prestigious Wallingford Long Distance Head and came away with a winner's medal. The J16 double scull combination of Will Gladstone and Nick Burden overcame a strong field of 22 crews from some of the best rowing clubs in the country to win. They are now set to perform again at Hampton Head and the club is optimistic about their chances of winning some major regattas in the summer season.

On 12 October, Stourport Head was the target for junior crews ranging from J14 to J18 as well as a litter older senior crew. The Ross contingent came away with no less than seven victories, with wins for Zoe Westley, Fran Watling, Adrienne Howell, Gabby Howell, Scarlett Brodholt, Jess Saxon-Macrostie, Isobel Newey, Emily Morris, Emily Leach, Naomi Banks-Martin and Ali Banks-Martin. The senior crew made up of Graham Watling, Tim Ball, Dave Sykes and Jim Pettipher (coxed by Sally Pettipher) had a very promising row given that it has recently formed and this was its first outing. There were also promising efforts from the other Ross rowers, particularly a WJ14 quad made up of young rowers who only took up rowing in the summer (Hattie Aubrey, Lily Croft, Elysia Cotton and Catherine Powell), and who rowed with a self-assurance which belied their inexperience.
