MONROSS Trailblazers headed for the first round of the Herefordshire and Borders Cross Country League at Pembridge on Sunday.

The 10k race was hosted by the Wye Valley Runners and attracted 308 competitors.

First Trailblazer home was Luke Gray, taking the men’s over-35 class by finishing sixth overall in 38.28.

Gavin Jones was 27th in 41.32, Mark Killeen 36th in 42.58 and Grant White 60th in 45.11, placing the MonRoss Men’s A team seventh overall.

Alice Taylor was third fastest woman and second senior female home in 42nd overall in 43.45.

Alice, Laura Lelievre (48.51), Vanessa Ward (53.33) and Lucia Demkova (54.14) placed third best women’s team out of 26, just pipping local rivals Spirit of Monmouth by a minute.

Other results saw Grant White finish 60th in 45.11, Richard Bevan 69th in 45.38, Rob Potter 91st in 47.31, Tony Davies 140th in 51.33, Sophie Williams 183rd in 54.57, Emma Davies 188th in 55.15, and Adam Gray 219th in 57.33. Trailblazers Men’s B team placed 25th out of 40.
