IN a tense, competitive game Ross Juniors lost 3-2 on Saturday to visitors from Hednesford in Staffordshire.

The opening exchanges were even, but it was the visitors who opened the scoring after ten minutes with a strong shot from the edge of the box. Ross pushed hard for an equaliser with Luke and Elliot both having chances, but it took a superb solo effort from Shaun to level the scores.

Picking up the ball on the halfway line, he dribbled through the whole Hednesford defence before powering into the net.

But the Juniors' joy was short-lived; attacking from the restart Hednesford forced a fine save from Josh and scored from the rebound. In the second half Ross defended well, with Matt, Harry and Freddie putting in some important tackles, but in attack they were frequently caught out by the visitors' well-drilled offside trap.
