This summer, netball and rugby players from John Kyrle High School will visit Canada to participate in high-quality sporting fixtures.

The Ross-on-Wye secondary school has been undertaking large-scale trips for many years, and has previously visited South Africa as well.

John Kyrle’s fundraising for this, their fourth Canadian rugby and netball tour, has been given a boost with financial backing from Westons Cider in Much Marcle.

Westons Cider’s offer of sponsorship will help provide the party with sports equipment for their nine-day tour to Toronto and its surrounding areas.

Helen Thomas from Westons Cider visited John Kyrle to present the cheque to party leader Claire Godwin, who was very grateful for the support.

Headteacher, Nigel Griffiths, was delighted to welcome Helen to thank her personally for the company’s generosity and to give her a tour of the school. Mr Griffiths said that the support the school continually receives from local businesses, such as Westons, is much appreciated.
