Angela Bryant, of Ross-on-Wye, competed in her first world event at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Malaga in September, 2018.
Beginning on September 4th and lasting until September 16th, there were over 8000 athletes competing at the Championships, with 101 countries represented over four stadiums.
In the 100m race, in which nine people competed, Angela came 4th, with a time of 15.25 seconds. Racing seven competitors in the 200m run, Angela came 3rd with a time of 32.29 seconds.
Also competing in a 400m race, Angela came 5th out of seven people, completing the race with a time of 74.51 seconds.
Angela also achieved her season’s best.
In the Women’s relay race, which consisted of four 100m laps, Angela competed in the last leg and received a bronze medal.
Angela told the Ross Gazette: “I want to thank my personal trainer, Joe Malsom. The games were brilliant, with stiffer competition than ever before.”
Angela is now preparing to compete in the World Masters Athletics Championships which are in Poland, in March 2019, where she will compete in races of 60m, 200m, 400m, and possibly a four by 100m relay.See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
