Local crews from Whitchurch and Ross spent hours on Monday night and Tuesday morning searching for a lone woman who was missing in the Symonds Yat area.
The alarm was raised when a car was noticed in a car park at Symonds Yat and the Whitchurch Fire and Rescue crew were the first to start searching at about 2am on Tuesday morning.
A cross border operation began and crews were mobilised from Herefordshire and Gloucestershire as well as dog handlers from Cardiff and the Mountain Rescue Teams.
An aerial ladder was deployed to provide overhead lighting and four teams started searching under the rock face.
At about half past one on Tuesday afternoon the search was called off when a woman was found at the bottom of the rock face. However as the Ross Gazette went to press we were unable to ascertain the woman's condition.
