The 80th annual Flower, Fruit and Vegetable Show was well supported by local residents who visited the Larruperz Centre on Saturday, August 8th. They were delighted to get the chance to meet Terry Walton, of Radio 2 fame. He is the ‘allotment gardener’ who features on the Jeremy Vine Show and he opened this special anniversary show and helped cut the cake.
Mr Walton is a very knowledgable gardener as he started helping his father on his allotment as a young boy. However he admitted he grows to eat rather than for show and is full of admiration for those who grow perfect specimens.
He visited the show with his wife and spent some time chatting to visitors. He told the Ross Gazette that he often visits Ross as his son lives in the town. Unfortunately on the day of the Ross show he was away on holiday, so they missed him. Otherwise Mr Walton said they would have been there, He said: “He is a gardener like his dad. In fact the first thing he did after moving to Ross was to start a vegetable patch in the garden.
