Ross-on-Wye residents are warned to be wary of criminals carrying out deception thefts; they observe members of the public while they enter their PIN numbers as they pay for their food shopping, and while an accomplice later distracts their attention, they steal the person’s bank card.
Recently, a woman who was shopping at Aldi last remembered using her card at the cash machine in the supermarket and she remembered two men, described as Asian, near to the shopping trolleys. They assisted her in putting the trolley back. The card has been missing since this time and two amounts of cash have been withdrawn.
The card is estimated to have been taken on April 28th. If you have any further information about this, please call 101 and give the reference: 203-S-280416.
Police urge all local residents to be vigilant; it is so important to shield your pin number when paying for your shopping. They add that it is important to be aware of anyone standing close by and watching you as you enter their PIN number at the till point. These people may follow you and distract you (using various methods) and steal your bank cards, having just witnessed your PIN number.
If you notice anything suspicious, please either call 101, or report information to the police anonymously, by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
