There was a burglary at the Hope Treasures coffee shop in Ross-on-Wye, between 11.45pm last night (Tuesday, April 25th) and 6.30am this morning (Wednesday, April 26th).

The burglar smashed the kitchen window to get in to the coffee shop, and stole approximately £300 in cash from the till float.

Debbie McNally, who runs Hope Treasures, told the Gazette that the coffee shop will be closed today, as there is smashed glass in the kitchen.

She said that she will make sure the kitchen has a deep clean, to eliminate any risks of cross contamination of shards of glass with food.

The Hope and Anchor pub, which is next to the Hope Treasures Coffee shop will be open as normal today.

Debbie said that she has spoken to the police this morning, and she and her husband are currently waiting for Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCOs) to arrive at the scene.

Commenting on the incidents, Investigating officer, PC Atherton said, "We have received a number of reports following a series of burglaries and criminal damage that took place overnight in Ross-on-Wye. “I would like to reassure the community that a thorough investigation is underway and increased patrols are being conducted in the area. “We are interested to hear from anyone who has seen or heard anything suspicious around the Rope Walk, Over Ross Street and The Hill Street area of Ross-On-Wye.
