Late last year, a young Ross resident, Michael Nash, was tragically killed in a road accident in the north of England.
His funeral was in Ross-on-Wye, and arranged by the undertakers William Bevan. Michael’s family requested that donations in his memory be made to a local youth charity (The Basement Youth Trust, BYT).
The BYT have just received a cheque via William Bevan for £203. The trustees were so moved by this kind gesture of the family at such a sad time, that they felt it appropriate to share their gratitude and feelings with the Ross community via a mention in the Gazette. The letter of thanks and condolence from the BYT to Michael’s parents is reproduced below:
Dear Mr and Mrs Nash,
This is to acknowledge with gratitude the kind donation we received recently via the funeral directors William Bevan. The amount was £202.72 which will be used in support of our charitable youth work in Ross.
Michael was known to our committee and on behalf of the trustees, please accept our heartfelt condolences at the tragic loss of your son; it touched us deeply that you thought of us and our work with local young people at this sad time for you and Michael’s friends and loved ones.
With our thanks again.
Yours sincerely
Alexander Orr
Basement Youth Trust Administrator
