Ross Gazette reader Christopher Dean, who uses Ross Swimming Pool and exercise facilities regularly, is so concerned that discussions about replacing the building or moving it to a new location, possibly at John Kyrle High School, have solely concentrated on replacing 'like for like' that he is setting up a 'think tank' to consider something far more ambitious.

He told the Ross Gazette that he swims six days a week and has been taking daily exercise at the place he considers to be a great asset to the town. However he would like to see people working towards something better, rather than equal to, the present facilities.

Mr Deane suggests that a first class swimming pool and leisure complex could draw visitors from a very wide area. He envisages a complex with a 50 metre swimming pool, multi-sports facilities including an indoor running track and even studios.

Accommodation and catering would be needed as an integral part of the scheme and he believes all of this would create jobs, as well as building on the Olympic and Paralympic legacy to inspire future champions.
