Madam, Whilst it is nice to see that Herefordshire Council intend to force the owners of the derelict buildings by the swimming pool car park to buy a couple of tins of paint and remove a few weeds to make it look less like a bomb site, all they are doing is buying mops to cure a leak. Up to 1984, the Brookend Street Post Office and Wool shop provided an excellent service to the community and the shops in that part of the town thrived.
Since then it has been empty and been allowed disintegrate and therefore lower the tone of street. I should like to know why the council have not been charging the owners full council rates for the last 28 years? That would have had the desired effect.
