THIS year’s final act of remembrance honouring those who died in both World Wars and conflicts since in Ross-on-Wye concluded on Armistice Day.

On Tuesday, November 11, a two-minute silence, was held at the town’s Market House at 11am to mark the signing of the Armistice 107 years ago.

The commemorations began with the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in May and continued with the Victory in Japan Day in August. These were effectively the last big occasions in which servicemen and women who lived through the Second World War will be taking part in the commemorations.

Last weekend saw the traditional Remembrance Sunday parades taking place throughout the nation. Pictures from the commemorations in Ross can be seen on pages 26 and 27.
