Two apprentice stylists at Reds Hair Company, a Ross-on-Wye hair and beauty salon, have brought home medals from the National Finals of the Skills Show.

Kelly Bishop (19) and Gavin Kyte (18) achieved Gold and Bronze respectively at the show held at the NEC.

They had to compete against hundreds of hairdressing trainees throughout the country at a regional level to win a place in the National Final.

The 16 young hairdressers who made the final had to compete over three days, producing five different looks, from beautiful Bridal to precision colouring and cutting and sharp gents’ haircuts.

They received their awards at a glittering ceremony at the NEC in front of several hundred supporters.

Kelly and Gavin have trained for many hours with Linzi Weare and Hannah Clague of Reds, and were supported by all the staff.

Claire Winnall, director of Reds, says commitment and enthusiasm to training has made this possible. They have benefited from the experience and talent that Reds Seniors have been able to pass on to them and she is very proud of her team.

Kelly has now secured a place in the UK Squad for WorldSkills in Abu Dhabi in 2017. She will be follow Reds Senior Stylists Linzi, Hannah and Lizzie who have all represented the UK in WorldSkills competitions in previous years.
