Local village store, Carrot & Wine at Wormelow have been entered into the Farm Shop & Deli Awards 2018 and they need your help to win.
The Awards recognise the very best standards in specialist retail and celebrate the highest levels of service, product knowledge, initiative, innovation and community involvement.
Nigel Barden, chair of judges and BBC Radio 2 Gastronome said: “The Farm Shop and Deli sector continues to grow in size and importance, as do these awards, which crucially acknowledge the finest in the field, in both retail and online.”
Mark Burch, Director at Carrot & Wine Store said “We deserve to win as we are truly different to our competitors. We are starting a revolution against supermarket shopping. We are making a stand for the local producers who can’t get through the door of the big national chains as they don’t produce enough.
“We making waves by going back to how retailing used to be – a store where you can buy a fresh joint of local meat, fresh vegetables sourced from the field over the road and fresh organic fruit for dessert without having to leave your village. We are helping to reduce food miles, helping our customers to have a better diet without a premium price tag which is often associated with local shops.”
