Butterflies were released at The Prospect on Saturday, May 7th, by members and supporters of a Ross-on-Wye based charity, Rocky-Lee’s Little Feet.
The charity was founded by a Ross couple, Sian and Martin Coopey after their son, Rocky-Lee was stillborn. The butterfly release marked the three year anniversary of his birth.
Rocky-Lee’s Little Feet provides financial relief and assistance to people in the UK who cannot afford a memorial headstone or plaque for their stillborn baby. Sian also works closely with Hereford County Hospital. This year, the charity provided a specialist delivery suite in the hospital for parents to have a private space, when going through a miscarriage or stillbirth.
Sian told the Gazette: “The plan is to use the butterfly release as a start, and maybe turn it into an annual event for Rocky’s birthday and the charity. It would be lovely for the town to get involved as the years go on.”
