PLENTY of runners are sure to try to beat the course records at the Big Dipper 10K on Sunday, September 24th, although the course, as its name suggests is not the pefect place to achieve a personal best.

The records were set by Andrew Stephens, Monross Trailblazers 36mins 51secs in 2015 and Angela Jones, Usk Running Club 42mins 05secs in 2016.

The Big Dipper starts from the Millennium Hall, Upton Bishop, near to Ross-on-Wye. There will be children’s fun races on the field from 10.30am with the main race starting at 11am.

Both club and fun runners enjoy the circular course as a scenic challenge. As the name suggests the route is always undulating following country lanes to Kempley and returning via Tan House Lane and Probyn’s Pitch. Do not expect a 10K PB but do expect a friendly atmosphere with all finishers rewarded by a medal and free tea and cakes. Individual age group prizes and team awards will be presented. There are toilets at the hall and plenty of parking. Entry is £8 for UK Athletics affiliated club members and £10 for others with an extra £2 for entry on the day.
