The overall effectiveness of Herefordshire Council's arrangements to protect children in the county has been found 'inadequate' in a hard-hitting Ofsted report. This follows an unannounced inspection in September.
Systemic failures in children's social care services in management oversight, decision making, performance management and quality assurance, led to some children being inadequately protected and other children not receiving timely provision of services in accordance to their needs.
Herefordshire Council have said that they are extremely disappointed with the findings but have already set up an improvement board, with an independent chair, to put into place the necessary changes to services.
