FOLLOWING the presentation of boxes of Christian books to the libraries of three Primary Schools in the Ross Benefice last year, members of St Mary's Church then looked towards donating books to the town’s senior school.

And now an appropriate selection of books have been donated to John Kyrle High School recently.

With titles like ‘The Bible for Minecrafters’ relating faith to current times and books by celebrities such as Bear Grylls, it is hoped that the selected books will help today's generation cope with issues that teenagers have always had to face.

The Life Link Chaplain, Emily Goy, appointed last summer to foster the sense of community between families, schools and the church, was very excited to receive this additional resource for John Kyle students.

Sally Clements, the school’s librarian said that John Kyrle High had received a wonderful surprise in the form of a generously donated box of Christian books.

She said that the gift was kindly organised by the school’s chaplain, Emily Goy, along with Janet Nelson from St Mary’s Church in Ross, and Bridge Books in Exeter.

Bridge Books runs a special ministry dedicated to providing primary and secondary schools with exciting boxes of books, completely free of charge.

These donations are made possible through the kindness and generosity of individuals who want to support young readers.

Ms Clements said: “Our new collection has been thoughtfully chosen with secondary students in mind. Inside the library, students will find an inspiring range of genres—from Manga‑style Bible stories and missionary biographies to books on prayer, imaginative Christian‑themed fantasy, and even a Minecraft Bible! There truly is something for everyone.

“We are incredibly grateful for this fantastic addition to our library. A huge thank‑you to everyone who helped bring this gift to our school—your contribution will spark curiosity, reflection, and enjoyment for many students.”
