After six gruelling days, Jason Games and Allan Harris, members of the Ross-on-Wye Royal British Legion, completed the Offa’s Dyke Walk from Prestatyn to Chepstow, on Saturday, May 21st. They were very tired and sore but so very proud of what they had achieved.
Allan, who recently retired from the Army, told the Ross Gazette: “I have had many arduous challenges throughout my military career but nothing that compares to this.”
To walk 177 miles in six days is no mean achievement and it will be something which will live in both their memories for many years to come. Apart from the beautiful scenery, rugged terrain and changeable weather conditions they met some really lovely people who spurred them on their way.
Allan and Jason share a passion to get more young people involved with the Legion and they hope that this may encourage them to join. It’s not too late to sponsor Jason and Allan to show your support. Visit their JustGiving page. Monies raised will be divided between the Branch and the Poppy Appeal.
