A PETITION calling for speeding restrictions and more safety measures in a village lane in Wormelow was handed to Herefordshire Council last week.

Eric Joseph gave a petition of 335 signatures to chairman of Herefordshire Council Brian Wilcox before the meeting of the Council on Friday, December 18th.

He collected the signatures after his wife was knocked down in the lane.

A long-time resident of Tump Lane, Wormelow, is Rosemary Rigby who runs the Violette Szabo Museum. She said she has campaigned for years for safety measures in the lane. She said:?“It is used as a rat run by very large vehicles and there is no pavement whatsoever.” There is also a very high hedge which makes it impossible for pedestrians to see oncoming traffic.

Councillor Wilcox passed the petition to the cabinet member for transport and roads, Paul Rone, who told the meeting that he will send a response to Mr Joseph.
