A 25-YEAR-OLD man accused of strangling a woman has been remanded in custody pending trial at Gloucester Crown Court.

Benjamin Tregartha of Poplars Grove, Huntley, is alleged to have intentionally strangled the woman in the village nine miles east of Ross-on-Wye on March 23 this year.

He did not enter a plea to the charge when he appeared before Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court last week.

The bench committed him to Gloucester Crown Court for trial and told him he will remain in custody until he makes his first appearance at the higher court on September 24.
