The owners of the former Gardner Butcher garage site in Brookend Street have been allowed a short extension to their February 6th deadline to demolish the buildings. Herefordshire Council had been negotiating with Aldi regarding their responsibility for tidying the buildings.

Aldi was unwilling to do this as they were due to be demolished. However Aldi was unable to reach an agreement with Welsh Water over the site drainage, if they were to demolish before this position had been agreed they would lose all existing drainage rights.

The council development supervisor drafted a section 215 notice which required specific steps to be taken to tidy the buildings, but in order that they could continue their discussion with Welsh Water agreed that hoardings could go up for a period of three months while a proposed enforcement action was put in abeyance.
