The Ross-on-Wye Quakers are currently hosting an exhibiton at The Friends Meeting House on Brampton Street: A Thousand Years of Building with Stone.

The exhibition is a part of Quaker week, which began today (Saturday, October 1st) and will finish on Sunday, October 9th.

In the exhibition, visitors can find out about the nature and the history of the rocks below our feet and how the red sandstone of Herefordshire has not only shaped the distinct regional landscape that we see around us, but it also influences what can grow, where settlements are established and what we are able to build.

From the cottages and castles and from bridges to barns the stone built heritage of the region has, through the ages, represented an important link between the largely hidden world beneath our feet and our everyday lives.

The exhibition will remain open today at the Friends Meeting House in Ross-on-Wye until 4pm. Please contact Julia Richardson on 01989 763756 for further details.
