Bridstow CE Primary School in Ross-on-Wye lived up to its motto of ‘Shine as a Light in the World’ recently during their annual Carol Service, held at St Bridget’s Church in Bridstow.
Led by the children from both Year 5 and 6, the service included wonderful live music performances from the school woodwind group, the ukulele orchestra, individual violin recitals as well as readings and prayers from the children.
“It was a fitting end to the Autumn term,” commented Dan Brearey – Headteacher of both Bridstow and Brampton Abbotts schools.
“The children led the service brilliantly. The readings were very clear and the performances added an extra dimension to proceedings; reflecting some of what children at our wonderful, small, village primary school have the opportunity to develop within the creative and diverse curriculum that we offer.”
The Carol service came at the end of a curtailed, but incredibly busy week of Christmas related activity. After being closed on Monday and Tuesday, due to the snow, there have been two Nativity performances, a rearranged whole school Christmas lunch, a school trip and the Christmas Craft Fair to squeeze into the end of the week!
“I am incredibly proud of the hard-work and dedication that the school staff and the PTFA have put in to this week – and everything that they do for our wonderful school. The school would not be what it is without the strong community that works together for the benefit of all our children.”
