Last week, the Ross Gazette reported that a local resident had contacted the newspaper, after she became concerned that a large tree, which had died, could fall down and cause damage to property.
Since the story was printed, several local residents have commented that they too had become worried about the state of the tree and Balfour Beatty confirmed they will be removing it.
A Ross man, John Stott, who lives near the tree in question, told the Ross Gazette, “The tree is a Wellingtonia, which is part of the Sequoia Redwood family and is almost 100ft high. As there are a number of properties within 30 to 40 ft of the tree, it has caused great concern among the residents.”
Mr Stott added that the tree officer for Herefordshire Council confirmed on Tuesday, August 1st, that the tree cannot recover from whatever has caused its decline, which Mr Stott said has been extremely rapid over the last couple of months.
