A group of residents in the picturesque village of Goodrich have become so fed up with looking at a building site in their village they have taken it upon themselves to spread a little Christmas cheer and turn it into a reverse Advent calendar.

Instead of removing a window or chocolate as with the more usual calendars at this time of year they are adding a festive decoration to the fence around the Old School every day.

The residents are getting increasingly upset about the lack of progress to the building site which is in the centre of the village.

Angry at the way the redevelopment of Goodrich Old School has been allowed to stall they formed the Old School Building Action Group, (OSBAG) and, in May, wrote to the Chief Executive of Herefordshire Council setting out the history of the site. Work began in 2009 but the building is now in a very poor state and they claim that nothing has been done for some time.

They are also concerned that the 106 agreement was not pursued before work began and called on the Council to "proactively demonstrate more concern, and invoke their legally-enforceable powers to support the very real grievances of the council tax-payers of Goodrich."
