Former John Kyrle High School student, James Gillett has joined the elite band of the Army’s top 100. James competed in the Army Operational Shooting Competition at Bisley earlier this year.
Regimental Shooting has taken a huge leap forward this year, seeing all Regular and Reserve Battalions qualifying through their Divisions for a place on the Army Operational Shooting Competition AOSC, Bisley. Competition therefore has been more intense than ever, with greater participation resulting in an even higher standard required to break into the Army top 100.
The top 100 competitors earn the right to wear the coveted 100 badge on the left forearm.
Despite this 13 Riflemen achieved this accolade, and can now wear their Army 100 badges with pride, including Rifleman James Gillett.
James’ mum, Rachel Gillett told the Ross Gazette that she is extremely proud of her son, who has been a member of 4 Rifles since 2011.
